Well Services Group has confirmed the acquisition of Costain Industrial Services in a statement. 

The UK energy service provider said the acquisition was completed on January 20, 2020 and “will accelerate WSG’s growth within the specialist industrial services sector.”

This move entails transfer of staff, assets and the purpose-built premises in Immingham and will provide a base “with a significantly increased presence on the Humber Bank.”

The statement said the purchase novates all existing contracts including the local refineries, chemical and energy plants, further supporting the controlled growth of the WSG Group.

Gareth Turner, WSG Managing Director, said: “This acquisition brings us a step closer to our objective of becoming the number one specialist services provider to the UK’s onshore energy sector.”

WSG, an Immingham-based industrial services business, has successfully operated specialist waste management, industrial projects and site support within the petrochemical industry since 1969 and employs 85 personnel with a turnover of c.£10 million. 

It provides solutions for a multitude of projects including (but not limited to) HP, UHP water jetting and Hydro Abrasive cutting. Confined space, automated and non-entry equipment for tank, line and vessel projects. Specialist tanker, pump and filtration services. Utilising the latest fully and semi-automated technology for all heat exchanger projects as well as surface preparation and cooling systems. 

The group also offers a wide range of specialist turnaround and outage project support on and offshore. In addition to these services WSG manages a variety of waste management contracts in the region.
