A new oil products terminal has opened at Imamnazar on the border between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
Commissioning of the terminal, which was officially inaugurated by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, has a capacity of 540,000 tons a year and was built by the state company ‘Türkmennebitgazgurlusyk’ at the request of the Turkmenbashi complex of oil refineries.
It has a direct link with a new railway linking Atamyrat-Imamnazar (Turkmenistan) and Akina (Afghanistan), the first stage in what is hoped to become a trans-Asian rail corridor.
Commissioning of the terminal will allow Turkmenistan to increase export volumes of oil products.
