Pieridae Energy Chief Executive Officer Alfred Sorensen wants to build an LNG export facility in Nova Scotia that would cost more than $7bn. He may beat British Columbia to the punch.

Pieridae Energy will receive help with finding financing from U.S. banks Morgan Stanley and Societe Generale for the Goldboro LNG project.

“We are very close to the final investment decision,” Alfred said in an interview. “Our project is a very integrated project, from the field to the flange and we needed to find banks that bought into our market concept.”

The Goldboro LNG project consists of an LNG processing facility, three storage tanks (230,000 cbm) and marine works. The facility will be located at the Goldboro Industrial Park in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, Canada. The natural gas supply feeding the project is to be delivered via the existing Maritimes & Northeast Pipeline, located directly adjacent to the project. The target markets for the LNG produced at the Goldboro LNG project are Europe, South America and Asia.

The send out capacity of the facility will be up to 10 million tonnes per year and is expected to be operational in 2022.
