One contractor died and another was injured following an incident at Petronas LNG Complex in Sarawak, Malaysia on August 31, 2020.

Petronas LNG Complex is one of the world’s largest LNG complexes on a single site. The nine-train facility has a combined annual production capacity of about 30 million tonnes.

The accident happened at around 2pm local time at the acid gas removal unit (AGRU) drain containment, during maintenance works. The injured worker remains in hospital receiving medical treatment.

Petronas has not revealed any further details but said an investigation is underway and the relevant authorities have been informed. Operations at the company are unaffected.

Petronas said: “MLNG is deeply saddened by the incident and we would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the family of the deceased.”
