Operations have restarted at OMV Petrom’s Petrobrazi refinery near Ploiesti, Romania, after a 6-week planned turnaround.

The 4.5 million tonnes per year refinery underwent a €45m project that included periodical maintenance works, inspections, and verifications of refinery installations.

The refinery is now fully operational and can process over 12,000 tons of oil per day, according to Neil Anthony Morgan, member of the OMV Petrom Directorate in charge with the Downstream Oil division.

The Petrobrazi refinery’s next turnaround is scheduled for 2022 as the investments made in the refinery over the last ten years have allowed longer periods between revisions. The group invested over €1.5bn in modernising the refinery between 2005 and 2017.
