Oiltanking and Peru’s Grana y Montero Petrolera have won a bid round to operate five state oil storage terminals.
State oil company Petroperu said the partners had won a 20 year contract for the Eten, Salaverry, Chimbote and Supe terminals on the north coast and the terminal at Lima’s port of Callao. The two companies committed to investing US$223 million in the facilities.
No bids were made for Petroperu’s Pisco, Mollendo, Ilo, Cuzco and Juliaca terminals in southern Peru, the company said. Oiltanking and GMP’s contract for the five southern terminals expires in August.
Oiltanking and GMP, which also operates two oil fields on Peru’s north coast, are the country’s largest oil terminal operators. Grana y Montero produces 1,700 bpd of crude.
Petroperu is also in the middle of a major upgrade of its Talara refinery raising capacity from 62,000 bpd to 96,000 bpd. Petroperu operates four refineries with total capacity for 80,000 bpd.
