Mabanaft has announced that Nikolaus Gehrs has stepped down from his position as Managing Director as planned. Nikolaus Gehrs has worked for the trading company for around 33 years and will retire at the end of September 2019.
Mabanaft Deutschland was most recently headed by Christoph Schäfer and Nikolaus Gehrs. Christoph Schäfer, who has been responsible for the operational trading division since October 2014, will thus become the sole Managing Director of Mabanaft Deutschland.
Florian Hausen (Head of Finance) will take over the commercial responsibilities. In May 2019, he already succeeded Nikolaus Gehrs as Chairman of the AFM+E Aussenhandelsverband für Mineralöl und Energie e.V. (foreign trade association for mineral oil and energy).
Nikolaus Gehrs joined Mabanaft in 1986, where he held various management positions over the following years. From 2004 until his leaving he held the position of Managing Director of Mabanaft Deutschland for 15 years. From the beginning of 2015 until summer 2019 he chaired AFM+E and was also a member of the board of MEW Mittelständische Energiewirtschaft Deutschland e.V. (medium-sized energy industry in Germany). For many years he was also a member of the board of IWO Institut für Wärme und Oeltechnik e.V. (institute for heat and oil technology).
