Tanknology Inc., based in Austin, TX has announced the launch of its new STS ProTec Sump Corrosion Treatment and Prevention program. The new program will allow site owners to prevent environmental contamination and costs from component replacement by reconditioning and repairing sumps that are affected by corrosion. As well as lowering costs, the process will allow for the safe elimination of corrosion and minimise disruption to business.

The treatment program will be carried out by a trained Tanknology technician, who will complete a full inspection and documentation of each sump. This is followed by a thorough cleaning which uses a rust removing gel in order to eliminate corrosion on a range of components, including carbon steel, cast iron, brass, copper, steel and stainless steel. Finally, each metallic component is then brushed with a high-build epoxy coating that is resistant to chemical corrosion and abrasion.

One of the key advantages of the STS ProTec Program is that not only will each sump be cleared of corrosion, but will be fully resistant to further contamination. Another benefit is that the process does not require 30, 60 or 90-day re-application.

“The presence of higher ethanol blends in gasoline has increased and accelerated the occurrence of corrosion on fuelling components in sumps,” said Allen Porter, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tanknology. “Our new STS ProTec program aims to eliminate that corrosion safely, with little cost and minimal forecourt disruption.”
