07.10.16. Neste Jacobs has successfully carried out the engineering, procurement and construction management (EPCM) for the Skangas’ LNG import terminal.
The 30,000 cbm terminal at Pori features engineering solutions being fully equipped for unloading ships, storing LNG, ship bunkering, truck loading and distribution of regasified LNG by pipeline to an industrial park.
Safety of the operation of the LNG terminal have been secured by Neste Jacobs’ process risk evaluations and safety automation assessments carried out during the engineering phase of the project.
One of the most significant characteristics of the Pori terminal is the high level of automation enabling the possibility for remote operation. The terminal was opened for commercial operation in July 2016.
“We are very happy and proud to have had the opportunity to be the EPCM contractor for Skangas in this Finland’s first LNG import terminal project,” commented Jarmo Suominen, CEO of Neste Jacobs. “By executing this technically challenging project, our experts in Porvoo and Turku have strengthened the know-how of LNG processing within Neste Jacobs, putting us in the pole position among Nordic engineering companies serving the gas industry.”
“The Pori terminal is the first LNG terminal in Finland and we at Skangas are satisfied to have this challenging project successfully completed as planned. This terminal boasts lots of modern technology and automation and we are looking forward to straightforward and reliable operation for years to come,” added Tommy Mattila, sales and marketing director of Skangas.
