Moroccan public works and civil engineering company SOMAGEC is contributing to the building of an oil terminal in Djibouti, Morocco. The construction works of the new oil jetty are underway as part of a large storage platform for petroleum products and derivatives.
The oil terminal consists of an offshore jetty connected to a storage area. The 3 km jetty provides access to vehicles and pipeline services. It is also designed to accommodate vessels from 5,000 to 100,000 DWT and ships from 2,000 to 30,000 DWT.
The new platform, located in the new free industrial zone of Damerjog, is one of the largest projects undertaken by the Djibouti Ports & Free Zones Authorities (DPFZA).
The new infrastructure includes oil storage terminals, a crude oil refinery, an LNG terminal, ship repair area as well as power plants and a park for building materials. The project’s three development and construction phases will be completed over five years, SOMAGEC said.
The launch ceremony by President Ismail Omar Guelleh was attended by SOMAGEC President Roger Sahyoun.
