When first responders from the city of Ceredo ran short of water they contacted Marathon Petroleum Corporation’s Kenova Terminal for help.
A recent towboat accident on the Big Sandy River released pollutants into the water, which shut down municipality intakes along the river. As a result, the local fire departments’ fire water retention was effected.
Officials from the city of Ceredo contacted Brad Kifer, Kenova terminal manager, for help with providing fresh fire water via the barge fire water system. Brad and the other employees at the terminal quickly came to their aid and worked efficiently to provide the fire departments with 44,000 gallons of water. Five trucks from fire stations in Ceredo, Kenova, England Hill and Pritchard transported the water.
Kenova terminal supervisor, James Prince said: “The Ceredo water department was very appreciative of our help, and the local fire departments were very impressed with our fire water system.”
