Sempra Energy’s Mexican subsidiary IEnova has announced the execution of a long-term Terminal Services Agreement with a subsidiary of Marathon Petroleum Corporation (MPC) for approximately 50 percent of the initial capacity (1 million barrels) of IEnova’s marine terminal for the receipt, storage, and delivery of refined products in Topolobampo, Sinaloa, Mexico.

As announced previously, IEnova will be responsible for all aspects of project implementation of the marine terminal, including permitting, engineering, procurement, construction, financing, operations, and maintenance. With an IEnova investment of approximately $150m, the marine terminal is expected to begin commercial operations in the last quarter of 2020.

The marine terminal will enable MPC to supply gasoline and diesel to its growing network of ARCO®-branded service stations in the states of Sinaloa and Sonora. This marine terminal will enhance supply options, improve logistics, and increase refined product supply reliability on the West Coast of Mexico, which will translate into benefits for consumers in the region.

The remaining 50 percent of the initial capacity of the terminal has been contracted with another company, as previously announced.
