Petrofac has won a six-month contract extension for its work in Iraq with Basra Oil Co. (BOC). The services company did not disclose the contract value for the Iraq Crude Oil Export Expansion Project (ICOEEP), which went to its Engineering & Production Services (EPS) division.

The ICOEEP facility handles around 50 per cent of Iraq’s crude exports and is around 60 km offshore the Al Fao Peninsula. It includes a central metering and manifold platform, with four Single Point Moorings allowing oil to be exported onto tankers. Petrofac is also responsible for around 300 km of subsea pipelines, 1,800 metres of subsea and floating hose infrastructure and 14 vessels.

Mani Rajapathy, EPS East’s Managing Director, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this further contract extension in Iraq by our longstanding client BOC. During this current challenging period for operations we have continued to work well together, improving the daily export beyond two million barrels.

“We thank BOC for their consistent support and look forward to maintaining the best-in-class operation of this important national asset.”

Ihsan Ismaael, BOC’s Director General, added that Petrofac was a “true partner … ensuring uninterrupted and record exports. We appreciate their commitment, particularly during this recent period, and congratulate them for hitting new export highs.”
