14.01.16. Swiss industrial group Hoerbiger has bought Newson Gale, a specialist in static electricity safety systems, for an undisclosed sum.
The majority of shares in the Nottingham, UK-based privately owned business had been held by the founder Ernest Kochmann and his family while CEO Graham Tyers held a minority of shares.
A statement from Hoerbiger said safety, explosion mitigation and prevention are attractive growth markets for the group, which is based in Zug, Switzerland. Hoerbiger already offers a wide range of safety-related products and services. The group produces systems for explosion protection and check valves to be used in oil, gas, carbon and dust applications as well as in the mechanical and plant engineering industry.
“Safety and explosion prevention technology are attractive growth markets which ideally complement Hoerbiger’s core business and thus hold attractive development potential,” stated Dr Martin Komischke, group CEO and chairman of the executive board. “With Newson Gale’s reputation and know-how, we will strengthen our role as developer and global provider of performance-defining safety related components and services.”
In recent years Newson Gale has successfully ventured into North America while also establishing a network of global distributors.
In September 2015 Hoerbiger acquired IEP Technologies, LLC, Marlborough, Massachusetts, USA, a provider of safety and explosion protection technology for industrial plant engineering applications. The acquisition of IEP Technologies created a platform for adding other products and services contributing to a common mission of mitigating explosions hazards in industrial environments.
“We have searched for a partner who will be committed to develop the success of Newson Gale,” said Graham Tyers. “Hoerbiger is an active buyer in the industrial safety business with global market access and providing a stable financial background. The group’s vision of building a large safety division precisely matched our shareholder’s expectations for the future of Newson Gale.”
