Sempra LNG, (which is a subsidiary of U.S. energy infrastructure firm Sempra Energy), has launched a non-binding open season for expressions of interest in its proposed Hackberry gas storage project in Louisiana.

The open season will continue until 4pm CST on September 15, 2020.

Plans for the Hackberry project, which will be located on a 65 ha site in Cameron Parish, include four storage caverns with a capacity of 26 billion cubic feet (736.2 million m3) and associated infrastructure.

Sempra LNG jointly owns the Cameron LNG project, and is also developing the Port Arthur LNG facility in Texas, with investment from Saudi Aramco, although it is reported that Saudi Aramco is reconsidering its participation.

The facility will support the feed gas supply needs of LNG facilities in southwest Louisiana and southeast Texas. It will connect with the Cameron Interstate Pipeline via an 8 km pipeline, and to the proposed Port Arthur Pipeline – Louisiana Connector via an 18 km pipeline.
