Grays terminal on the River Thames, which is part of Inter Terminals’ comprehensive bulk liquid storage network, has successfully completed a multi-million-pound infrastructure upgrade programme.

Grays terminal specialises in the storage and handling of high and low flash fuels/petroleum products, including diesel, gas oil and kerosene. It has a total storage capacity of 310 489 m3 across 51 mild steel tanks.

Throughput capacity has increased considerably as a result of the optimisation project, “enabling the receipt and dispatch of increased volumes of fuels at significantly faster rates than previously possible at the terminal”, Grays said in a statement.

The terminal’s two existing jetties have been upgraded to accommodate larger vessels (up to 40,000t) as part of the major infrastructure improvements.

New marine loading arms and mild steel pipelines have also been installed, to allow faster discharge of cargoes into storage. Road loading facilities at Grays have also been improved.
