10.06.16. Spanish LNG terminal operator Enagas and Port of Barcelona have signed a deal to set up new logistics services for LNG at the Barcelona regasification plant.
The deal involves initiatives to be developed jointly to convert Barcelona port into an LNG distribution hub for the Mediterranean.
Both parties see the presence of LNG supply infrastructure in the port as essential to encourage the promotion of LNG as an alternative transport fuel.
The Enagas storage and regasification plant in Port of Barcelona – which was opened in 1969 – has much accumulated experience and know-how regarding the treatment of LNG, the gas company said.
The agreement will provide for greater speed in the supply chain needed to convert the port into an LNG distribution hub, helping to attract new shipping lines with modern LNG-fuelled ships.
