A row is brewing between two terminals in the Lithuanian port of Klaipeda.
On 30 November, AB Klaipedos Nafta received documents from the Vilnius Regional Court regarding a claim filed by UAB Kroviniu Terminalas to Klaipedos Nafta and oil refiner AB ORLEN Lietuva for damages under an alleged breach of competition law.
UAB Kroviniu Terminalas is asking the court to award damages of nearly 6 million; as well as acknowledging that a contract regarding the terminal, signed between Klaipedos Nafta and AB ORLEN Lietuva on 17 November 2011 is ‘void starting from the day of the contract’.
The claimant also wants to apply as an interim measure the suspension of some of the conditions of the contract.
An application for an interim measures will be judged on 9 December 2016.
However, Klaipedos Nafta is rejecting the claim as ‘unfounded’, saying it will file its response to the court in due course.
AB ORLEN Lietuva is owned by Polish energy group PKN ORLEN.
