A ceremonial stone has been laid to mark the beginning of construction of the €100m Manga LNG Oy’s LNG terminal in Finland.

This ceremony puts the construction on scheduled for completion as planned with the earthmoving commences in August. Throughout the Autumn the construction of the terminal tank will continue with the pouring of the concrete wall of the tank so that the roof structure can be installed before the winter.

Manga LNG Oy’s natural gas import terminal is located in the port of Tornio, Finland. It is a joint venture between the industrial companies Outokumpu Oyj and SSAB Oy and the energy companies Skangas and EPV Energia Oy.

The aim of the terminal’s owners is to diversify the gas and fuel market in the northern Scandinavian region by offering a more environmentally friendly and cheaper alternative to northern industry, power generation and shipping. The project cost estimate is about €100m and create 260 man-years of work.
