Platts has reported that Andeavor has acquired the closed down  ConocoPhillips’ Kenai LNG plant in Alaska.

A company spokesman, Scott LaBelle said: “This acquisition further strengthens our integrated value chain by optimizing our operations in Kenai and providing low-cost fuel for our refinery to produce fuels.” He was not able to confirm if the site would resuming LNG exports saying: “We are still considering our options.”

A ConocoPhillips spokesperson said the sale closed and operatorship was transferred to Andeavor at the end of January. “A total of about a dozen ConocoPhillips employees and about 15 contract workers were affected by the transaction,” they added.

The plant was built by Phillips Petroleum and Marathon Oil in 1969.
