08.10.15. EEMUA, the Engineering Equipment and Materials Users Association, is running a seminar on risk-based procurement to be held on 19 November 2015 in London, UK.
The seminar will highlight risks and discuss methods of quality assurance in procurement.
In procuring safety-critical engineering equipment and materials, counterfeit or defective materials are often discovered late in the chain, during installation or worse still, not until the commissioning stage of a project, EEMUA says.
Previously, such instances have had a major impact on companies affected. In some cases, had the problem not been discovered there would have been failure in-service with serious health and safety or production consequences. The problem is most common with mechanical equipment, but extends to electrical power equipment and instrumentation, the association adds.

The event should be of particular interest to materials engineers, inspection engineers, pressure equipment engineers, engineering managers and procurement specialists.
